Spend National Night Out With Manchester Police

The Manchester Police Department will visit residents and hold an ice cream social for Tuesday's National Night Out. It's a night for neighbors to stand united against crime.

"It's a demonstration that you will stand together as neighbors against crime," explained Manchester Police Chief Tim Walsh.

As part of the nation's 28th Annual National Night Out (NNO), the Manchester Police Department is holding an ice cream social from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at the police station located at 200 Highlands Boulevard Drive. Residents are encouraged to stop by and meet their police department while learning more about NNO. Plus, Smoothie King is providing free smoothies for community members.

Walsh said his officers will also be visiting any organized NNO neighborhood programs in the city Tuesday night. He is asking residents to notify police if their neighborhood is participating in NNO.

According to the Manchester Police Department, NNO is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support and participation for local anti-crime programs, and strengthen neighborhood and police-community partnerships. It is also an effort to send message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
