Police: Man Punched Employee, Got Away With Groceries

The Shop 'n Save worker tried to stop two men from stealing the groceries May 12 in Twin Oaks, St. Louis County Police said.

A man punched a Shop ‘n Save employee while another man walked out with stolen groceries 12 in Twin Oaks, police said.

Walter Ruffin, 18, of the 8300 block of Hill Avenue in Cool Valley, was charged Oct. 30 with second-degree robbery.

St. Louis County Police said Ruffin and another man walked out of Shop ‘n Save at 1144 Meramec Station Road in Twin Oaks without paying for groceries. When a Shop ‘n Save employee tried to stop them, Ruffin hit him in the head, according to a police report. That allowed the two men to get away with the groceries, police said.

Bail was set at $25,000 for Ruffin.
