Police: Drunk Driver Passed Out in Car on Ballas Road

Police found a woman passed out at the wheel on Ballas Road near Interstate 64 in Town & Country.

Taylor Lawson, 23, of Fenton, was charged with driving while intoxicated as a persistent offender. Lawson has two previous DWI convictions, one in 2012 and another in 2010.

Town and Country Police said they received a call regarding a woman who was slumped over at the wheel, parked in the northbound lane of Ballas Road near Interstate 64 at 2:50 a.m. May 16. When they arrived, they found Lawson asleep at the wheel with her foot on the gas and the engine racing.

Police said the officer had to shake Lawson’s arm to awake her. The officer said he noticed a strong odor of alcohol, saw her eyes were bloodshot, watery and glassy and noticed her speech was confused.

Police said Lawson failed sobriety tests and refused to take a breath test.

She posted 10 percent of a $7,500 bond and was released from jail May 17.
