Guilty Pleas Wrap Up State Sex Charges Against Parkway Coach

Brent Woody was already sentenced for crossing state lines with a minor for purpose of having sex.

A former coach and substitute teacher who was already sentenced to 151 months in federal prison for transporting a minor across state lines to engage in sexual activity, was sentenced Friday to seven years in prison after pleading guilty in St. Louis County Court to 15 counts of statutory rape.

The sentence will be served concurrently with the federal prison term, according to the Office of State Court Adminstrator's website, Casenet.

A guilty plea in the federal case came in October 2011.

According to a letter previously sent out to parents from Parkway Central Principal Tim Gannon, Woody was an employee at the school at the time of the incident. The letter also states that Woody worked as Central High's ninth grade girls basketball coach and as an assistant track coach from 2008 to 2010. He also filled in as a substitute teacher.

The district's website also states that Woody underwent two background checks that revealed no previous misconduct. The district's site states background checkes are conducted on all new employees.
