Multi-Car Crash on Highway 40 Backs Up Traffic

Police tell Patch an "inattentive" driver near a MoDOT work area likely caused the crash Monday afternoon.

and crews responded to the crash at Highway 40 and Mason Road around 1:50 p.m. Monday.

According to police, multiple cars were involved in the accident that caused a "considerable back up" in traffic. Authorities tell Patch an inattentive driver likely caused the crash.

According to police, there was already congestion in the area caused by roadwork shutting down a lane of traffic and a motorist who was not paying attention may have caused the crash.

Three people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Town and Country police.

The accident scene has since been cleared.
