MSD Cleaning Up Sewage Spill Near Bellerive

Officials are asking people to stay away from the area around Smith Creek for the next 2 to 3 days as a precaution.

Crews from the Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) are cleaning up the scene of a sewer line break which dumped 215,000 gallons of sewage into Smith Creek in Creve Coeur.

An MSD spokesperson tells Patch the leak was discovered Tuesday morning and that crews remain on site to pump out the creek and will be there for the next few days. MSD also plans to be in touch with , which is near the area.

A statement from the utility did not say when the break happened. The area involved is on Chamblee Lane, an area between Ladue Road and Mason Road.

People are being asked to stay away from that area of the creek for the next 2 to 3 days. A statement released Wednesday morning did not describe what may have caused the leak.
