Manchester Officer Recovering From Concussion From Police Call

Officer Brian Melugin is now recovering after being injured while responding to a call Saturday night.

Chief Tim Walsh said Officer Brian Melugin was struck on the head while responding to a call Saturday night.

The officer, who's been with the department for approximatey eight years, was responding to a "suicidal subject" call when the subject of the call tried to hit another officer, a lieutenant tells Patch. Melugin reportedly then tackled the guy, but the male punched Melugin in the back of the head during the physical altercation.

Sunday, Melugin reported to work at the police department, but left early due to complaints of a headache. He went to the hospital later that day and was diagnosed with a concussion, Walsh explained.

"We don't know where the concussion came from, tackling the guy or getting punched," Walsh tells Patch.
