Theft, Deer and Dogs Top Recent Manchester Police Calls

Thieves hit Manchester stores, plus take an American flag and tamper with an air conditioning unit. Meanwhile, a good samaritan makes sure a lost wallet is returned to its rightful owner.

The following information was supplied by the Manchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made.

Deer Struck: A deer had to be euthanized and removed from the road after it was struck, but initially still alive after the accident.

Sept. 27: 200 block Highland Boulevard Drive

Theft: Police report that a male was detained and arrested after being spotted at the Manchester Highlands Walmart concealing a phone and leaving the store without paying for it.

Sept. 27: 200 block Highland Boulevard Drive

Theft: Police are investigating after two people were reportedly seen at the Manchester Highlands Walmart unpacking and concealing several sets of headphones, then leaving the store without paying for them.

Sept. 27: 200 block Henry Avenue

Hazard: Ameren was called to repair a power line that became loose and was hanging from a pole.

Sept. 28: 14100 block Manchester Road

Theft of Fuel: A driver is reportedly paying restitution after leaving a local gas station without paying for $32 in gasoline. A license plate number was provided to police who made contact with the driver after the alleged incident.

Sept. 28: 300 block Whitehall Drive 

Theft: Two people were arrested after reportedly being observed tampering with an air conditioner unit. 

Sept. 30: 800 block Meramec Station Road

Theft of Fuel: Police are investigating after a driver left a local gas station without paying for fuel. Police do have a vehicle description and license plate number.

Sept. 30: 700 block Rockridge Drive

Theft: An American flag on a pole was reportedly stolen from one home, while a concrete goose was taken from the front porch of another residence.

Sept. 30: 500 block Woods Mill Road

Found Property: A good samaritan turned in a wallet after it was found in a local parking lot. Police contacted the wallet's owner and the wallet was returned.

Oct. 1: 900 block La Bonne Parkway

Ordinance Violation: Police were called about two people going door-to-door selling magazines. Police located the solicitors and advised them of the ordinance requiring a permit to solicit. They left the area.

Oct. 1: 200 block Highland Boulevard Drive

Forgery: Two people were seen at the Manchester Highlands Walmart tampering with the UPC labels, or bar codes, on store merchandise. Police said they were confronted about the false labels at the check-out and they fled. One was caught and charged with forgery, plus held on charges from another police department.

Oct. 2: 700 block Big Bend Woods Drive 

Animal Complaint: Dog owners were contacted after their neighbor contacted police about the dog's barking. The owners brought their dog inside.

Oct. 4: 300 block Reindeer Drive 

Theft: Police are investigating after a wallet containing several credit cards, a driver’s license and social security card was stolen from an unlocked car.
