Man Faces Fourth DWI Charge After Town & Country Police Find Him Slumped at Wheel

A Breathalyzer test indicated Thomas Grate's blood-alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit.

A man found slumped at the wheel of his car with the engine running in Town and Country, was charged with his fourth impaired driving charge.

Thomas M. Grate, 31, of of the 16500 block of Clayton Road in Wildwood, was charged June 28 with driving while intoxicated as an aggravated offender, a felony. He has three previous DWI convictions.

Town and Country Police said officers, dispatched to investigate a suspicious vehicle at 4:09 p.m. June 6 at Cabernet Drive and Mersault Lane, found Grate at the wheel with the engine running.

Police said the officers noticed an odor of alcohol and said Grate’s eyes were watery and bloodshot. He did poorly on a sobriety test and tested positive for alcohol on a preliminary test. Officers took Grate into custody.

A Breathalyzer test indicated his blood-alcohol content was 0.263 percent, more than three times the legal limit.

After being arrested on a warrant July 8, Grate posted 10 percent of a $10,000 bond and was released the same day.
