According to police, during the call for a dog left unattended in a car in the parking lot, police found that the dog’s owner, Cade, was wanted on charges out of O'Fallon.

Manchester police took Cade into custody for fugitive warrants. According to O'Fallon police, Cade was wanted for failure to show up for court appearances for domestic assault and not having a drivers license, a traffic violation. Both charges are misdemeanors.

Cade was booked by Manchester police as a fugitive and posted a $1,000 cash bond as requested by O'Fallon police, then released.

The dog was released to Cade's girlfriend who was also at the store.

Manchester police Captain Charles Hunn tells Patch when the officers first arrived on the scene just before 2:45 p.m. the car windows were down 3 to 4 inches.

"It couldn't be determined how long the dog was left and it didn't appear the dog was in distress," Hunn said.
