Five Manchester Police Officers Promoted

The Manchester Police Department has one new captain, two new lieutenants and two new sergeants.

Manchester Chief of Police Tim Walsh announced five new promotions within the department at the city council meeting Monday night. The five promoted officers have a total of 148 years of police experience among them.

Chuck Hunn, promoted to captain

  • 43 year veteran of police work, with Manchester for 26 years
  • Previously a lieutenant with Normandy Police, and the City of St. Louis
  • Has worked in every capacity in law enforcement
  • Will oversee detective beaureau, School Resource Officer Program, records clerks office, and the platoon lieutenants who coordinate the activities of the uniformed officers.

Kermit (Buck) Lancie and and Pat Milligan, promoted to lieutenant

  • Kermit Buck Lancie, 26 years of law enforcement, with Manchester for 21 years
  • Pat Milligan, 36 years in law enforcement. Today was his 41st wedding anniversary, and couldn't be present
  • Each is assigned to over see the activities of two platoons of uniformed officers. They will review and give final approval to incident reports and coordinate the need for special assignments, and take citizen complaints.

Craig Smith and John Tennyson promoted to sergeant

  • Smith started as Police Explorer in 1990, Police officer and detective for 15 years
  • Tennyson – 28 years, been with Manchester for 22 years
  • Each sergeant commands a 5-officer squad. They will make sector assignments each day and will supervise the activities of the officers. They will also review report submissions and give their initial approval.
