It's been triple digits in St. Louis too. This guy needs additional charges.
Gabrielle Biondo (Editor) June 28, 2012 at 09:21 PM
Catherine - I don't think it was triple digits when this happened, but either way, if you're Walmart shopping, I'd leave the dog at home.

I am glad he was arrested, the scum is a dispicable excuse for a human being, he deserves to rot in jail for animal cruelty.
Lisa Lunger June 29, 2012 at 01:01 AM
Gabrielle, it only has to be 92 outside to have an inside car temp in the triple digits and kill the dog.
Dana Gates June 29, 2012 at 01:08 AM
I'm glad he got arrested. Whether it was in the triple digits or not, it was too hot to leave that dog in the car. Idiot! I would like to leave him in the car with the windows cracked and see how he likes it. Dogs also have a higher body temperature.
Brian June 29, 2012 at 01:11 AM
I wouldn't have called the police first. I would have smashed the window and got the poor dog out!
C Settle June 29, 2012 at 01:33 AM
The best idea yet, Brian! Break the window and adopt the doggie! Give him a home he deserves with love. Animal Lover in Dallas, TX

People like that should not have animals or children - nuter them before it's too late
Lynn June 29, 2012 at 02:06 AM
I don't care where you are shopping, you DO NOT leave your pet in a car unattended period!
Gina Luzz June 29, 2012 at 04:30 AM
Exaggerate much! 70 degrees is fine for a dog. Just crank the windows down a bit. Let's not go overboard. Lots of people here live in a cynical, paranoid world. How did you ever get to be an adult. Did you spend your life in a bubble?
Gabrielle Biondo (Editor) June 29, 2012 at 07:08 AM
Thanks for all the comments:) My point was, to clarify the temps bc we are in a heat wave right now and that I wouldn't leave my dog in the car if I was shopping.. even if it were not hot out.
Gail June 29, 2012 at 08:09 AM
The study, conducted during a local heat wave, compared an outside temperature of a shaded area with the inside of an automobile in three states: fully closed, with four windows cracked, and with two windows cracked. Inside temperatures were measured with an indoor/outdoor thermometer and an oven thermometer (both readings are given). All temperatures use the Fahrenheit scale. Day 1 Outside Temperature Inside Closed Automobile Indoor/Outdoor Oven Thermometer 9:00 am 82° 109° ---- 9:30 am 87° 115° ---- 10:00 am 91° 115° ---- 10:30 am 94° 114° 115° 11:00 am 98° 114° 119° 11:30 am 100° 117° 124° 12:00 pm 101° 119° 127° 1:30 pm 112° 124° 130° 2:30 pm 125° 130+° 159° 4:00 pm 98° 110° 110° Day 2 Outside Temperature Inside Auto - 4 Windows Cracked Indoor/Outdoor Oven Thermometer 9:15 am 84° 98° 98° 10:00 am 88° 103° 105° 10:30 am 90° 108° 108° 11:00 am 92° 109° 109° 12:00 pm 95° 113° 113° 1:00 pm 101° 114° 115° 2:00 pm 110° 123° 120° 3:40 pm 112° 129° 128° 4:00 pm 115° 132° 130° Day 3 Outside Temperature Inside Auto - 2 Windows Cracked Indoor/Outdoor Oven Thermometer 8:30 am 72° 72° 72° 9:30 am 80° 95° 95° 12:00 pm 88° 105° 105° 1:50 pm 99° 109° 109° 2:30 pm 104° 120° 120° (both thermometers showed identical readings)

Just the other day I went to Walmart, it was 83 degree's outside, little breeze. A poor beautiful white puppy was locked in a truck in the full sun and was desperately trying to escape through the 1/3 rolled down window. I ran to the beverage machines outside of Walmart and bought a bottle of water, filled a cup and gave it to this dog. She was soo thankful, and I know I helped her. I stayed with this dog until the owner arrived back. He was a jerk and told me to mind my own business!!!! Animal suffering is my business, I would never turn my back on a suffering animal. The Walmart workers collecting carts outside in the lot did nothing. I should have called the police, so this owner would get a ticket, and or have his dog taken away from him. NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON AN ABUSED ANIMAL. Walmart and all stores need to be responsible for their shoppers cruelty to animals
