Cyclist Struck at Parkway's Barretts Elementary School

A man was reportedly struck by a car while riding his bike through the Barretts Elementary School parking lot Tuesday morning.

Manchester police tell Town and Country-Manchester Patch William Hetlage, 50, of Manchester was struck by a car while riding his bicycle through parking lot around 8:10 a.m. Tuesday.

The school is located near the intersection of Carman and Dougherty Ferry roads.

Investigators tell Patch a mother had just dropped off her child and was leaving the parking lot when she collided with the cyclist. The man was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur for head injuries, according to Manchester Police Captain Charles Hunn.

Hunn said the injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Parkway School District Spokesperson Cathy Kelly tells Patch the incident happened before the buses were there.
