West County Man Found Dead in Geek Squad Car

Authorities say Richard Mellenbruch, 46, of Ballwin was found dead in the car he was driving, after an accident Monday morning along Highway 40.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, that man is now identified as Richard M. Mellenbruch, 46, of Ballwin. The MSHP crash report states Mellenbruch  was heading east on Highway 40 just before 9 a.m. Monday, when he suffered from a medical condition. The car reportedly veered left, struck the concrete median, crossed back across the lanes of Highway 40 before going off the road and stopping in trees.

Mellenbruch was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS crews and no one else was injured.

Authorities say Mellenbruch was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
