Tasty Treats for Summer
Summer is officially underway, and the heat is showing no signs of mercy. "Patch" has rounded up some of the best treats to keep you cool this summer.
If the heat is making you cranky this summer, don't despair. Smoothies, blizzards, frappuccinos and concretes are coming to the rescue. Going out for dessert after dinner or for a tasty treat on a warm afternoon make summer more enjoyable.
Town and Country
Razzmattazz is the tasty treat at Eugene's that is sure to make you melt. The Razzmattazz is made from raspberries and cheesecake, topped with whipped cream and a cherry, and you have a dessert to die for. Eugene's Custard is a fun, old-fashioned style ice cream shop, although it serves cakes, pies and Kaldi's coffee as well. Play a tune on the juke box and enjoy the air-conditioning or sit outside on the patio.

Smoothies are custom-made according to flavor preference and dietary goals (trim down, build up, stay healthy, snack right, indulge, Kids’ Kups, get energy). Flavors range from traditional favorites like vanilla, strawberry and chocolate to tropical tastes like açaí, coconut, goji, kiwi, mango, mangosteen, papaya, passion fruit and pineapple. The flavors to combine are pineapple, coconut and mango--making a pseudo virgin colada. Then you can imagine yourself sitting under a palm tree by the ocean.

Candies include Double Stuff Oreo, M&M's, Reese's Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, Butterfinger and Snickers. How can you go wrong with ice cream, chocolate and cherries? For good measure, I must mention the Cappuccino Heath Bar Blizzard (the richness of the cappuccino flavor and sweet salty note of the Heath Bar make this blizzard addictive).

The tasty treat of choice at Starbucks this summer is the Coconut Crème Frappuccino, a delectable mocha sauce and distinctly coconut-flavored syrup blended with coffee, milk and ice. This frappuccino is then topped with sweetened whipped cream, mocha drizzle and toasted coconut flakes - a hit for sure.
