Vasiliki Kolivakis, beloved Mother and Yiayia passed away Sunday, August 5th 2012.

She was born in the village of Sopiki - Voreo Epirus,to Andreas and Kostando (Kiros) Georgiou in 1930. She was married to the late Stavros Kolivakis in Pogoniani, Epirus, Greece where they had two daughters, Alexandra and Erini.

In 1960, they immigrated to the United States of America and settled in St.Louis, Missouri to pursue the American dream of freedom and opportunity. Widowed at a young age, she tirelessly worked and dedicated her life to raising her daughters.

“Vaso” was a devout Greek Orthodox Christian and volunteered her talents for many years to the . She enjoyed tending her garden & grape vines and had a passion for cooking. She loved spending time with her 9 grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren and celebrated the many milestones in their lives.

She was a strong-willed, independent woman who worked well into her seventies until facing her last challenge with Alzheimers. Vaso never lost her sense of humor & cheerful disposition and always had a smile on her face.

Family

Vasiliki is survived by her daughters Aleka (Larry) Karagiannis and Irene (Christos) Tsoubanos, her grandchildren Katherine (Christopher) Richards, Stavros Karagiannis, Haralambos Karagiannis, Elias Karagiannis, Vasili (Christine) Karagiannis, and Christian Tsoubanos, Aleke (Jason) Valentine, Stephanie (Link) Saunders, Nicholas Tsoubanos, and great-grandchildren Anthony & Anna Richards and Delaney Karagiannis.

Services

Visitation Friday, August 10, 4-8PM with a Trisagion Service at 7PM at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd. Funeral Service Saturday, August 11, at 10 AM at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 1755 Des Peres Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, or to the Alzheimers Association.
