Michael J. Roarty Dies; Ad Man Behind Bud, Michelob Slogans

Mr. Roarty was the son of Irish immigrants and worked for Anheuser-Busch his entire career.

Michael J. Roarty, an award-winning ad man whose work was behind famous slogans such as "This Bud's For You" and "Weekends were made for Michelob" has died.

A visitation for Mr. Roarty will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Road in Kirkwood, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Clement of Rome Roman Catholic Church, 1510 Bopp Road in Des Peres.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, in its obituary, said Mr. Roarty, 84, suffered a heart attack at his Town and Country home on Friday and was pronounced dead later at the hospital.

The funeral announcement by Bopp Chapel noted that Mr. Roarty was the son of Irish immigrants and had spent 43 years working with Anheuser-Busch, joining the company while he was still a student at the University of Detroit.
