New Year's Eve 2012 Family-Friendly Events in St. Louis
Check out these ways to ring in the new year together as a family.
Hike Columbia Bottom Conservation Area on New Year's Eve from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Appropriate for kids ages 10 and older. Families will discover the sounds of the night and will spend a few minutes at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers before heading back. Reservations are required and open Dec. 15, call 314-877-6014 to reserve.

Noontime New Year Celebration with the Magic House
Ring in 2013 a little early at The Magic House. Between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. kids are invited to dance to music by Complete Music, make wish wands and noise makers and march in a noisy parade. There will be a special countdown at noon. Cost is free with museum admission.

See Acrobats at First Night
Head to Grand Center on Dec. 31 from 6 p.m. to midnight to experience 60 performances at 12 venues, free firework displays and outdoor shows. Or, sign up as a volunteer for the festival. New Year's Eve Lock-In at the Rec Plex
Children ages 8 to 13 can swim, ice skate and participate in other activities at the St. Peters Rec Plex lock in on Dec. 31. The cost is $50 per person for St. Peters residents and pass-holders and $60 for the general public. Lock-in participants can purchase items from the food court. Children can check in 7 p.m. and must be picked up by 7 a.m. Jan. 1. Sign up here.
New Year's Eve Ice Skating in Brentwood
At the Brentwood Recreation Complex, special public skating sessions will help set the mood for a fun New Year's Evening and all year to come. Ice skate with friends or family-it's a great way to extend your celebration. Admission: $4 per session, skate rental: $1.50. The times are 12:30 - 3 p.m. OR 3:30-6 p.m.
