Women of Achievement Honors Class of 2011

It was an honor to watch as St. Louis area women were recognized for their selfless acts of helping others.

Remember the song, "I Can't Smile Without You?"

Tuesday, I attended the 2011 Women of Achievement Awards Luncheon, and witnessed the power of ten women who transformed the lives of those fortunate enough to meet them.

One of the honorees said that if she could make one child happy, she felt that her work was worthwhile. Another reflected that if everyone in the room could make just one other person happy, the St. Louis community would be a better place for all of us.

Each of these individuals shared a common motivation: a genuine satisfaction in fulfillling the needs of those less fortunate than themselves. A smile on the faces of those that they served was worth more than any paycheck they had ever or would ever earn.

Congratulations to the Class of 2011 Women of Achievement: Lisa Boyce, Karen Castellano, Margo L. Deloch, Diane Katzman, Becky Kueker, Lisa Nichols, Pam Toder, Corinne Walentick, M.D., MPH, Carol Weir, and Fran Gelber Zamler.
