The Book Rack Moves to New Location Along Manchester Road

The West County used bookstore is open for business and just celebrated its move with a ribbon cutting.

The Book Rack didn't need to move far. It just needed room to grow. "We just needed more space," Lauren Gockley, a sales associate at the bookstore said.

On April 23, the store opened its new location at 14560 Manchester Road, in the plaza with Bread Co.

Just a few doors away from its old location in Winchester Plaza, it now sits in a former Weight Watchers space.

"Everything's the same, but much nicer," one visitor said Tuesday. The new location has twice as many books in stock than the former home.

Gockley credits the store's loyal customers who still like the feel and the smell of pages in a book, despite the modern advances. She pointed to a Wall Street Journal comic strip stationed at the register, which said "books don't crash, they don't get viruses and they don't need screen savers."

A ribbon-cutting was held May 2 by the West County Chamber of Commerce.
