Smoothie King announced last week that it is seeking to expand its footprint in St. Louis and open 25 additional locations over the next five years. The national chain already has locations in Chesterfield, Manchester, Creve Coeur and Kirkwood.

“We are confident that our brand has great potential for further development in St. Louis and look forward to building a stronger presence in the area,” said Smoothie King CEO Wan Kim in a press release.

At the same time, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that one of Smoothie King’s rivals, Jamba Juice, has announced growth plans of its own that will include its first-ever Missouri stores. The goal is to have 15 locations in Missouri and Kansa over the next nine years.

With so many smoothies vying for consumers' attention, it's a classic recipe for economic competition and should bring an increase in quality along with quantity.

Yes... I am a Smoothie King occasional customer. Very good products, even if a little pricey. I'm happy to hear that they are expanding. It is good for them and good for our economy. Note to author: In your article, you list they have a "Ballwin" location. Actually, Smoothie King is located in the City of Manchester at 14505 Manchester Road (at the Baxter Rd. intersection). Sorry to sound so picky, but having a 63011 zip does not mean it is "in" Ballwin. Please give each city their due. Especially when this is the Manchester Patch. Not the Ballwin Patch. :) Thank you for listening.
