Nordstrom Rack Opens to Hundreds Thursday Morning in Manchester

Manchester's Nordstrom Rack opened to a super excited crowd of 300 people Thursday morning. Plus, one woman won a $2,000 shopping spree!

Manchester's new Nordstom Rack is open!

The store, located at at 100 Highlands Boulevard Drive, is right next door to  at the intersection of Manchester Road and Highland's Boulevard Drive, just east of Route 141.

Shoppers from all over the St. Louis area began lining up hours before Thursday's 9 a.m. opening and festivities, including a DJ and a drawing to win a $2,000 shopping spree began at 7 a.m.  A line of eager shopper wrapped around the building.

Nordstrom Rack Spokesperson Megan Gurvey tells Patch when the doors opened there were 300 people in line.

"We're here, excited to be part of the community. We had a great opening," Gurvey explained. "Had 300 customers at the door opening and they are still flowing through."

She estimated closer to 400 customers had arrived by 9:20 a.m.  

Kathy Muschick of Chesterfield tells Patch she came to meet some friends and see what the new store had to offer.

"It was a great reception. Seems like there's a lot to choose from," Muschick said. "This one's a lot closer than Brentwood for sure."

Manchester's location is the second Nordstrom Rack to open in the St. Louis area.

Christiana Elieson who lives near Big Bend and Sulphur Spring roads is excited to live near a Nordstrom Rack, again. She came out around 7:30 a.m. to wait in line.

"I used to shop Nordstrom Rack in Utah, so I'm glad to see it here," Elieson tells Patch. "They always have good quality stuff that I like."

Elieson even got a deal on her purchase Thursday. She was one of 20 shoppers who found a "golden hanger" inside the store. Customers who found the hangers can redeem them for a $100 in-store purchase.

"They gave out hints on Twitter, so I had been watching that all morning," Elieson explained.

Linda Nguyen of Ballwin had also been waiting since 7:30 for the store to open and said she found exactly what she wanted.

"My favorite thing is Joe's jeans," Nguyen tells Patch.

Kirkwood resident Beth Dinender said she and her sister came out because they simply "like shopping."

"We usually go to the Nordstrom at West County (Center), we were there last night," Dinender said. She added that she's now a fan of Nordstom Rack too. "I like it. There's lots to chose from. I have some jeans and an enormous amount of shoes."

Michelle Kassing and her four-month old daughter Fiona made it to Manchester from Sullivan, MO Thursday morning.

"Oh my God. We love it! We love the brands," Kassing tells Patch. "My mom has gotten things here (Nordstrom at West County Center) before and comes home and we're all jealous."

Manchester Highlands Nordstrom Rack regular store hours are as follows.

  • Monday - Saturday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m
