Missouri Baptist Ranked '100 Top Hospital'

Town and Country's  was recently ranked “100 Top Hospital” by Thomson Reuters and also named among the “Best Hospitals in St. Louis” by US News and World Report.

Hospital officials said in a release that this is the third consecutive year that Missouri Baptist has been ranked one of the nation’s 100 top hospitals by Thomson Reuters as part of its annual study that evaluates performance in 10 categories. The study looks at mortality, medical complications, patient safety, efficiency, profitability, patient satisfaction, adherence to clinical standards of care, post-discharge mortality and readmission rates for heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia. 

Missouri Baptist was the only St. Louis hospital to receive this award. It was named in the "Large Community Hospitals" category.

According to Thomson Reuters, the 100 Top Hospitals program has used independent and objective research to guide hospitals and health systems to improve their performance for the last 18 years. Thomson Reuters evaluated 2,914 short term, acute care, non-federal hospitals, according to Missouri Baptist staff.

Missouri Baptist was also ranked third in St. Louis on U.S. News & World Report's first-ever best hospitals metro area rankings.

Barnes Jewish Hospital ranked No. 1 and St. Louis University Hospital ranked No. 2 on the list.

In a release, Missouri Baptist said the rankings recognize 622 hospitals in or near major cities with a record of high performance in key medical specialties. Hospital officials said that Missouri Baptist was ranked as “high-performing” in nine specialties, second only to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, which has 15 nationally ranked specialties.
