Marshall's Bistro Opens Wednesday in Former Panda Palace Location

Jim and Greg Marshall are opening Wednesday; they say it's one of the ways they're supporting their 81-year-old father who has Alzheimer's.

Marshall's Bistro—a new restaurant featuring comfort food like spaghetti and meatballs, lamb sliders, braised short ribs and bread pudding—opens Wednesday in the location formerly occupied by Panda Palace.

The new restaurant features dishes by chef Michael Ryan, executive chef at Lola in St. Louis, with small plates in the $8 to $10 range; entrees from $17 to $22; and pizzas from the Marshall brothers, who used to own Leaning Tower of Pizza at Grand and Bates in St. Louis before it closed years ago.

Jim Marshall said he and his brother Gregg started out looking for smaller places, but the Panda Palace location had been vacant since September or October. The brothers moved in in January, saying "we can do something with this."

"I was a plumbing contractor and businesses wasn't good right now. My brother was a general contractor and business wasn't good," said Jim Marshall, who was working in the restaurant on Monday getting things ready. He said his brother owns the new bistro. The pair worked together on Leaning Tower of Pizza.

He said the pair takes care of their father, who is 81 and has Alzheimer's Disease. The restaurant was their effort to change gears, get back into restaurants and support their father.

The restaurant will feature live music, starting on Friday with The Travelin' Band at 9 p.m.; and Saturday, with Patti & The Hitmen at 9 p.m.

The restaurant is hosting a grand opening party on March 16 from 8:30 p.m. to midnight, featuring music from Butchwax and The Hollywoods.

Marshall's also offers free delivery, take out and a family-style dinner on Tuesday nights at discounted prices.
