Manchester United Methodist Church Hosts their Annual July 4th Celebration and Offers BBQ for a Cause

St. Louis, MOJune 25, 2012West county dwellers from Ballwin, Valley Park, and Chesterfield through St. Charles are revved up to attend Manchester United Methodist Church’s annual 4th of July celebration.

Noted as a laid-back, family-friendly* affair, attendees should plan to bring a lawn-chair and to enjoy food, great music, and family games this Independence Day.

The church’s Bike Rehab ministry will begin serving moderately priced barbeque at 6:30 p.m. this July 4th. All food proceeds will benefit this ministry, who receives bikes as donations, cleans and repairs them each week, and then distributes the “like new” bikes to local charitable organizations. The City of Manchester fireworks will begin around 9:15 p.m., for which Manchester UMC “the church on the hill” has a fantastic view.

“The Bike Rehab ministry at Manchester UMC is proud to sponsor the BBQ at this year’s July 4th event! This is our primary fundraiser for the year, and helps us purchase tools, replacement parts, and cleaning supplies to recondition bikes for children,” Chairman Jim Vail said.

Since the ministry’s start in the year 2000, over 3,000 bikes have been shared with agencies, groups and individuals. The primary agency recipient is Kingdom House, an organization that offers childcare, food, clothing assistance, job training and programs to help thousands of St. Louis residents in need achieve self-sufficiency and gain economic independence.

For more information on 4th of July festivities or the Bike Rehab ministry at MUMC, call 636.394.7506.

*No alcohol is permitted on church grounds.
