Chevys Shuts Down the Fiesta in Ellisville

The Fresh Mex restaurant closed its Ellisville location this week.

Chevys Fresh Mex said "Adios" to Ellisville patrons.

The location, in the Dierbergs shopping plaza at Clarkson and Clayton Roads, boarded up its doors this week.

If you're still looking for your Chevys fix, locations remain in Olivette; St. Louis Mills; O'Fallon, Mo.; South County and O'Fallon, Ill. The St. Charles location is also closing by the end of September.

Several items are up for an online auction through BCL Auction. Bidding closes Oct. 4 at 8 p.m.

Patch is waiting to hear more about the closing. Stay tuned!

In 2009, Ellisville was named by Money Magazine as one of the best places to live. Since that time we have seen a building boom in Wildwood, Chesterfield and Ballwin. I have heard from friends in the business community that Ellisville is now being viewed as a city to avoid due to our internal bickering over Walmart that has received much publicity in Post Dispatch, West News Magazine, the Patch, etc. The longer the Walmart issue drags out, the more damaging the impact will be on our city. As a local resident since 1982 I'm encouraged to see some progress in business activity but I'm sure you agree we have a long way to go.

This is an ugly link, but it should take you to the Mexican restaurants listed in our site directory. Feel free to share your reviews on the restaurant listing pages, too! http://ballwin-ellisville.patch.com/directory/category/food-dining#/_utf8:%E2%98%83/type:listings/cat:1998198530/custom_s652%5B%5D:Mexican/sort:rating/page:1/_utf8:%E2%98%83

Well, it is a shame to loose any business in the area. I liked going to Chevy's occassionally. I have been known to frequent Mi Lupita as they are very friendly and treat you like family there. They server very authentic mexican food and they have THE BEST

The Best rice and beans on the planet. When I am closer to home I do like to go to Chimi's Mexican Restaurant in Wildwood. They really do have great house margaritas and excellent chips and salsa. Try it, you'll like it!!!

Chevy's struggled because they weren't serving "real" Mexican food - it was Americanized stuff. Also, they're in an area with a glut of choices in Mexican food. I'd much rather have Senor Pique's shrimp tacos or go to El Maguey in Wildwood than to go to a huge chain restaurant with so-so food.
