Murdered Husband Allegedly Choked Wife With Grandkids in Home

More details on previous police calls emerge after real estate developer Ivan Mullenix was stabbed to death last week. Police responded to the Mullenix home at least 16 times before, KSDK reports.

As previously reported by Patch, Mary Mullenix, 69, charged with murdering her real estate developer husband Ivan Mullenix, 76, is reportedly out of jail and plans to plead not guilty to second degree murder charges.

However, the stabbing death in Country Life Acres near Town and Country doesn't appear to be the first time police handled a domestic issue with the couple.

According to KSDK, police responded to the Mullenix home 16 times between 2009 and 2013 and police reports show a reported domestic violence incident in August 2012 when their grandchildren were spending the night at their home.

Mary reportedly told officers her husband choked her after she woke him up, but he said he grabbed his wife's face to hold her back. Mary also told police she tried to fight Ivan off with an 8-pound dumbbell, KSDK reports.

Ultimately the couple said they had been drinking, refused to file charges and the prosecutor dropped the case, according to the KSDK report.

KSDK requested records of police reports of calls to Mullinexes home in Country Life Acres and lists the following reports in its story.

  • In November 2011, Mary Mullenix called officers to come help her with a man who fell and was bleeding from his head.
  • In May 2012, Ivan Mullenix reported harassment. Police report said the couple was going through a divorce.
  • In September 2012, Ivan Mullenix called 911 to say he was "puking up blood and having a hard time breathing."
  • On New Year's Eve 2012, Ivan Mullenix called police again to say he fell and broke his back again. The police report said he was drunk.
  • July 17, 2013. Beau Mullenix, the Mullenixes' son, called officers to report his sister told him his mother stabbed his father.
The Country Life Acres village where the incident occurred is a small community patrolled by Town and Country Police.
