Manchester Celebrates Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day

In an effort to honor veterans decades after the war, the City of Manchester is inviting the public to Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day at Manchester's Veterans Memorial.

The City of Manchester is remembering Vietnam veterans at the end of March and the public in encouraged to attend the Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day ceremony. It will begin at 10 a.m., Sat., March 31 at Manchester's Veterans Memorial at .

"It's actually a nationwide movement that's trying to recognize what the Vietnam veterans should have been recognized forty years ago," Franz Kraintz, Manchester's director of planning, zoning and economic development, tells Patch. "Trying to make up for it."

Kraintz said it was March 30, 1973 that the last Vietnam veteran came home and that really signaled the end of the war. He said the city wants to show its support for their service and sacrafice and invites residents to do the same.
