Second Friday Notes

Second friday notes is a literary series that will take place on the second Friday evening of each month in our café. The hour-and-a-half show will usually feature two or more poets and one musical performer or group. April poets are Drucilla and Eamonn Wall. The husband and wife team both teach at UMSL. Eamonn is a native of Ireland and has published five collections of his poetry. One of his poems was recently inscribed in stone in his hometown of Enniscorthy in Ireland. Drucilla Wall just published her first book of poetry. Her writing explores intersections of identity, history, and cultural practice. Our musician this month is Marion Berktold. Marion was born in Germany and has always been involved in some kind of music. Before moving across the ocean, she was part of the background voices in a cover band in Germany and used to be part of a local all girl´s band, called “Momentary Girls.” About 2 and a half years ago she picked up the guitar and started playing with the local band “Pik´n Lik´n.” She is now writing songs of her own and performing with other local musicians.
