The Rep's 'Macbeth': Why do reviewers insist on RUINING all possibility of surprise by giving a complete summary of a play without warning readers of SPOILERS? How will a person who has never read or seen this piece of theatre get the experience of it with all of the details printed in black and white? ARGH.

: Tear it all down and plant trees. It is disgusting.

: Second-hand smoke is harmful to the health of others. There is no safe level of second-hand smoke. Setting aside areas for smokers has been proved ineffective. This should be a no-brainer. Whole countries in Europe are going smoke-free. Why is the obvious so hard in St. Louis Missouri?

: Summit Produce does not "just provide us with outdoor shopping." Summit Produce has dedicated the last 32 years to providing Kirkwood shoppers with outstanding local produce and lots of it. Summit was "doing local" long before "buying local" was cool. Summit may not grow their own produce, but the produce they sell during the "local season" is just as fresh, and just as local as any other farmer that participates in the market.
Summit's seasonal operation supports more than 20 local farms. The owners of Summit personally pick up these fresh products and/or the farmer will personally deliver. These farmers need Summit and Summit needs them and the customer ends up with great local produce 7 days a week. Summit offers some organic local produce and is diligently seeking more. Organic is important to Summit, but it is not easy to come by.

I find this so sad. There's something so comforting about grabbing a coffee and physically browsing for books, as opposed to ordering online. I love interacting online, but the feel of a book cannot be replaced!

Ban Red-Light Cameras in Jefferson County: Let's start with if you run a red light you get points assessed against you. Currently, if you run a red light and are caught on video, you get no points assessed against you. So any person who constantly runs a red light policed by a camera can do so without any fear of losing their license. However if you are caught by an actual policeman, you get a moving violation ticket and the points go on your record. That is what you call a deterrent. Without an enforceable deterrent we will never remove these bad drivers from the road.

I am disappointed that Mayor Welsch and Ms. Ricci are using a technicality to defend the removal of Ms. Nickerson from the sales tax board. Ironically, Ms. Ricci and Mr. Glickert brought a vote of no confidence against the former city manager with only eight hours notice to other council members—a far more serious issue than whether Ms. Nickerson sits on the sales tax board or not. That vote was actually discussed as setting precendent before the vote on Ms. Nickerson's appointment. If Ms. Ricci wants to say that Ms. Nickerson was an improper appointment, then she also needs to step up and say that bringing the vote against the former city manager was improper as well."

Just to refresh our memories, when (Universal Dance Association) had the Prop Division, the Flyerettes consistently placed in the top 5—even as high as second place. It's the same category that made the Flyerettes perennial state champs—as well with their last state championship the last year, they won state in 2007.
