Top Five Good Deeds for the Holiday

Here is a list of the top five places in your communities that need your help. If good things have come to you this year, it's always nice to pay it forward.

If you're looking for a way to give back this holiday season or even into the new year, here is a list of local organizations looking for help from Town and Country and Manchester residents:

The Small World Adoption Federation, Inc.

Yelena Kogan, licensed pediatrician and founding executive director of The Small World Adoption Federation, Inc. created this foundation initially, to provide relief to orphanages where they grew up. Since they expanded they have helped thousands of children from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Vietnam. SWAF, Inc. works hard to facilitate adoptions and make it a successful and positive experience for the the children and families alike.

You can donate your time or make tax deductable monetary donations to assist these families and children unite. Right now is the best time to donate because they have an anonymous donor willing to match up to the first $15,000 donated. Click on the link above to learn about how you can make a difference.

Country Acres Rescue

 in Town and Country needs volunteers to help them care for the over 300 abandoned animals that end up at their doorstep. They need monetary donations, supplies as well as your time. Help is needed in a variety of areas including administration, fund-raising, fostering and of course pet care among others. To help these animals need click on the link above.

Circle of Concern

Circle of Concern is located in Valley Park but is looking for volunteers from all around the area, including Manchester and Town and Country. The organization helps families in need. In addition to providing food through its pantry, it provides emergency assistance for rent, utilities, prescriptions as well as other needs in the community. The success of Circle is based on the dedication of their numerous volunteers and monetary support. Circle has flexible scheduling and makes a place for all who wish to volunteer. 

Circle of concern also needs volunteers in Manchester. Jan-Nov they gather on the second Wednesday of the month and in Dec on the first Wednesday, at . On these days organizers need help to assemble the newsletter. Start time is at 8:30 a.m. and it usually lasts two hours. To join Circle of Concern in their mission, click on the link above.

Whole Foods Market

Bag Hunger with Whole Foods Market

At you can join Operation Food Search by purchasing Bag Hunger gift tags for $5, $10 or $20. This good deed provides food to families here in St. Louis. This program will run until Dec 31. To sweeten the deal the Whole Foods Market stores in Missouri will match $25,000 in customer donations to Share Our Strength.

Cancer Support Community

Flexible volunteering schedules make this a great place to donate your time. Whether it is helping to welcome their participants, office, educational or culinary support, CSC says you "will help make a difference in the lives of people living with cancer who come to for emotional support, education and hope. All of our services are offered free of charge so each time a volunteer donates his or her time, it helps the organization save money and supports our small staff".
