Manchester Road Traffic Alert: Crews Still Working, Traffic Affected

As of Monday night, crews were still working on what started as a water main break on Manchester Road just west of Interstate 270.

Town and Country - Manchester Patch did not get a response from Missouri American Water Monday night about how long crews would be working on Manchester Road at Manchester Meadows, just west of Interstate 270.

However a giant hole remained, crews were busy and traffic was still affected in both directions of Manchester Road around the repair work.

St. Louis County police diverted traffic and Missouri American Water crews began working to repair the rupture.

Although the road was expected to be repaired by Monday morning rush hour, water crews cut an unmarked fiber optic cable while working on the water main break.

The fiber optic issue forced traffic to be redircted all day Monday on that small section of Manchester Road near the Manchester Meadows Shopping Center as water crews worked with AT&T, according to Missouri American Water Communications Manager Ann Dettmer.

Monday night, crews were still on the scene working and the road was not repaired. Patch did not receive a reponse from Missouri American Water on whether the road would be repaired by Tuesday morning rush hour.

Signs are posted as drivers approach the area alerting them of the roadwork and will likely still be in place if crews are still working in that area.
