Westminster World Languages Students Achieve Recognition in 2014 National Examinations
Spanish and French languages students from Westminster Christian Academy received national recognition for outstanding performance on the 2014 National Spanish Examinations and National French Contest.
Two Spanish language students were awarded gold medals, scoring in the 98th and 99th percentiles. Senior Jennie Albertson tested at the 99th percentile for the second consecutive year, placing third in the local San Luis Rey Chapter.
In the bilingual category on the Spanish examination, Westminster student Jarrett Hardy scored first in the local San Luis Rey Chapter. Additional students were awarded a total of 9 silver and 12 bronze medals, and 48 honorable mentions.

“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 154,000 students participating in 2014.”
Two Westminster students also placed in the top 10 national rankings for the National French Contest. Eight students placed in the top 10 rankings in the regional St. Louis chapter. Additional students earned certificates for placing in the top 20th and 50th percentiles nationally.

The National French Contest is an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French to measure student achievement. Approximately 100,000 students across the United States completed this year’s written test.
