Westminster Student Selected for USA Team Hockey Development Program

Joseph Woll, a sophomore student at Westminster Christian Academy, recently tried out for USA Team Hockey and was selected for the National Team Development Program for the 2014-15 season.

Woll will complete two years of training during his enrollment in the full-time program, which is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. 

As a part of the Under-17 squad, he will have the opportunity to compete in the United States Hockey League, the top junior league in the United States, and play in three international events, including the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

In mid-December, Woll, who plays goalie on the Westminster varsity hockey team, was named Hockey News Player of the Week after stopping 61 of 62 shots in a game against St. John Vianney High School.

Woll also played for the St. Louis AAA Blues U16 team this past season and plans to participate in the USA Hockey Warren Strelow National Team Goaltending Camp in May 2014.

Additional hockey achievements include Woll’s selection as a participant for USA Hockey National Select U15 Festival in July 2013, and his achievement of the bronze medal in the 2014 USA Hockey National Championship Tournament.

At Westminster, Woll was listed on the High Honor Roll President’s List his freshman and sophomore year for excellence in academics. 

Upon graduation, Woll plans to attend Harvard University. He has already verbally committed to the school for hockey and academics.
