Westminster Hosts Cooking Demonstration Sponsored by Whole Foods

Westminster Christian Academy’s Garden Club and food service provider, Campus Cuisine, recently teamed up to host a pizza cooking demonstration, sponsored by Whole Foods Market.

“Westminster was a recipient of a Whole Foods Garden Grant a little over two years ago,” said Holly Cunningham, director of Campus Cuisine by Hollyberry. “We have maintained a wonderful relationship with Whole Foods ever since.”

Whole Foods Garden Grants are awarded by the company’s Whole Kids Foundation. This year was the first year the foundation invited Whole Foods to host a party to celebrate with one of the recipients of a Garden Grant.

“In choosing the school recipient for this event, we knew that Westminster would be very receptive to partnering with us, because we have developed a relationship with the school through our Kids Club program,” said Marcia Whelan, Whole Foods market and community relations specialist. “We also appreciate that Westminster’s awareness about healthy eating is quite established and in having worked with some of the students, we thought they would really enjoy celebrating our joy of eating healthy foods with us.”

Students learned from a Whole Foods chef how to make pizzas from scratch, played a food-tasting game, and enjoyed eating their freshly made pizzas at the end of the event.

“It was an honor to have Whole Foods come to us and work with our students to create fabulous snacks inspired by what we grow in the Westminster garden,” said Cunningham. “It was truly a blessing to have Whole Foods on campus and to help represent Westminster!”
