J. Todd Gentry Selected as retirewise® Contest Winner

St. Louis, MO, July 12, 2013 – St. Louis resident J. Todd Gentry, CFP, ChFC, CAP, a Financial Services Representative and Special Needs Planner with MetLife’s St. Louis office, is shown receiving an award from Brad White, PlanSmart Account Executive, for Gentry’s selection as the Southern regional winner in a national contest celebrating the five year anniversary of MetLife’s popular retirewise program.

retirewise is a comprehensive retirement education program offered to individuals through the convenience of the workplace. Since its inception, retirewise representatives have conducted 3,700 workshops in businesses across the country, and helped 71,000 employees define and achieve their financial and retirement goals. An important component of the program is to provide participants the opportunity to receive personal guidance from trained financial professionals about their unique retirement needs. The contest was held to hear some of the most inspiring stories about how retirewise representatives have improved their clients lives.

“With so many workshops held in five short years, we regularly hear inspiring stories about how our representatives are helping to make a difference in the lives of clients,” said Jeff Tulloch, vice president, MetLife. “Todd Gentry’s story stands out as among the best, which is why he’s one of only five winners to be recognized. On behalf of the retirewise program, I would like to congratulate Todd for making a big difference in the lives of his clients.”

Gentry’s winning story involved a woman facing early retirement, who worked with Gentry to help visualize a comfortable retirement plan that even involved the creation of her own consulting company. Gentry has been involved with the retirewise program since its inception, and through the years has provided retirement education to a variety of companies and organizations, including Fortune 500 companies, universities, and hospital systems, as well as small businesses. He has twenty years in the financial planning industry and is a recognized expert in the area of special needs planning. In addition to retirewise, Gentry has a strong affiliation with the MetLife Center for Special Needs Planning.

Through his years with MetLife, Gentry has been recognized within the company on several occasions as a sales leader: most recently, he earned MetLife President’s level recognition – a high honor bestowed to a select set of MetLife top producers. Outside of MetLife, he is active within his community and serves on several boards, including the St. Louis Habitat for Humanity (where he was a founding board member), The Miriam School Learning Center, which assists children with various disabilities, and the Down’s Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis, where he served as a past president. Gentry graduated from Missouri State University and is married with two daughters.
