The Winter Olympics favorite has found a way to St. Louis: Now you can join a speedskating club in Webster Groves.

Think you want to give it a shot? Here are five things you should know about the St. Louis Speedskating Club's open house this weekend:

  1. The open house will be Saturday at the Webster Ice Rink at 12:30-1:30 p.m.
  2. Olympic skater Brendan Eppert will be on hand for tips and learning the form of the sport.
  3. Interested? Make sure you bring a helmet, gloves and long pants. A limited number of speed skates will be available.
  4. Throughout the season, practice time on the ice takes up to four hours a week.
  5. Sessions in the St. Louis area rotate through Webster Groves, Queeny Park, St. Louis Mills, and Hardee's rinks.
  6. The speedskating season runs from September to March.
