Woman Faces Third DWI Charge After Stop In Town and Country

Police said Michelle N. Adams was weaving in her lane on Highway 141 near Interstate 64 when she was pulled over.

A St. Charles woman faces her third driving while intoxicated charge after she was pulled over on Highway 141 at Interstate 64.

Michelle N. Adams, 23, of the 2500 block of Leonard Drive in St. Charles, was charged Wednesday with DWI as a persistent offender, a class D felony. She has two previous DWI convictions.

Town and Country Police said an officer pulled Adams over at 2:13 a.m. Aug. 26 after seeing her weave onto a shoulder, drive on a white lane line and change lanes without signaling.

After pulling her car over, the officer reported Adams smelled like alcohol, and had watery and bloodshot eyes. According to the police report, Adams admitted drinking and did poorly on a sobriety test.

A Breathalyzer test indicated her blood-alcohol level was at 0.159 percent. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.

Adams was convicted of DWI in 2011 and 2009.

Bail was set at $10,000.
