What Moves Would You Make to Win World Series Game 7?

Give us your insights on what you think Cardinals manager Tony La Russa should do to complete the Cardinals' amazing season with a win.

OK, St. Louis Cardinal fans. You just got to witness the most exciting game in World Series history.

But the job isn’t over. They need to win Game 7 to complete the most improbable World Series championship in history. For now, let’s put you in the manager’s office. Tell us your decisions in the comments section.

If you were Cardinals manager Tony La Russa, what would you do with the following decisions.

  • Which pitcher do you start tonight? Chris Carpenter on three days rest? Jake Westbrook, winner of last night’s game? Kyle Lohse? Edwin Jackson? Someone else?
  • Who do you bat fourth behind Albert Pujols, given that lefthander Matt Harrison is starting for the Rangers?
  • Who do you start in the outfield, given that Matt Holliday is out with an injured finger? Who do you start in center?
  • Who do you start at second base, given the revolving door there: Nick Punto, Ryan Theriot, Skip Schumaker or someone else?
  • Do you still bring out Jason Motte as your closer (even though La Russa doesn’t call him that) after he has given up leads in two of his last three appearances?
  • What relievers would you rely upon tonight?
  • Any other moves you would make to ensure World Series Championship No. 11?

The first shoes have dropped, with Chambers replacing Holliday on the roster and the starting lineup, which puts a struggling Rafael Furcal in the 7 spot (Schu hits 8th) and Theriot hitting leadoff. Will be fascinating to see how short a leash the pitchers on both sides have.
