Town and Country Police Corporal Receives Life Saving Award

Town and Country Police Corporal Chris Moore is receiving the American Red Cross Life Savers Award on May 4.

He's being recognized for his bravery during a car crash last June on Mason Road that left the driver trapped in his car as it became engulfed in flames.

You can see in the dash cam video in this article, when Moore arrives on the scene he runs from his car and aggressively works to pull out the driver free and then drags him away from the vehicle as it becomes engulfed in flames.

Moore was credited for saving the driver's life.

"We are all very proud of the good work he does for the city of Town and Country day in and day out," Town and Country Police Chief John Copeland said.

Moore has already been awarded the Medal of Valor by the Missouri Police Chiefs Association and he has been recognized by the Town and Country Board of Aldermen.

"I think Chris is a little uncomfortable with getting all the recognition. He feels that his actions really represented what the other officers would have done in that situation. It just so happened that Chris was the one that rolled up on the scene first," Town and Country Police Captain Gary Hoelzer tells Patch. "This reflects really highly on Chris. It reflects on the dedication of putting others before your own life. I think Chris' actions that night reflects on the actions of law enforcement around the country. He recognizes that others would have done the same thing and that others do the same thing."
