Thefts, Scam & Bizarre Break-In Top Manchester Crimes

Thefts, sweepstakes scam and a man with clipboard breaks into a Manchester home while a resident was sleeping.

 

The following information was supplied by the Manchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made.

May 3: 600 block of Burwick Terrace

Forgery: A resident received a letter stating he won $50,000 in sweepstakes, but first needed to send in $1,900 for alleged "taxes" on his winnings. The man did transfer the money and later realized it was a scam. 

May 3: 800 block of Pheasant Woods Drive

Stealing: A man reported his car was broken into.  He told police he thought his car was locked, but authorities found no signs of forced entry. A laptop computer was stolen with a value of $1,100.

May 4: 14000 block of Andersohn Drive

Stealing: A man was arrested after Kohls loss prevention personal called police reporting a theft. Police said the man exchanged his shoes for a new pair that cost $70 and left the store without paying. 

May 4: 800 block of Sugar Hill Drive

Burglary: A resident told police he was sleeping when he heard a loud noise and went to investigate. He said his back door had been forced open, and there was a person inside his home who then walked calmly out the door holding a clip board. Police said the the only missing item was a set of spare keys. Police are still investigating.

May 5: 400 block of Lafayette Center

Shoplifting:Police responded to a report of a theft and were able to locate the car as it was leaving the scene. Police said the suspect was arrested on theft and traffic violations charges.

May 5: 200 block of Highlands Boulevard Drive

Shoplifting: A loss prevention officer confronted a man as he was leaving the Manchester Highlands Walmart store with a concealed bottle of vodka. Police responded and the man was arrested and booked for stealing.

May 5: 900 block of Queensbridge Road

Theft: An Ipod Classic was reported stolen from an unlocked car. The Ipod was valued at $250.

May 6: 800 block of Meramec Station Road

Theft: Police were called by the gas station after a driver pumped $38.26 in gas and drove off without paying.

May 8: 200 block of Highlands Boulevard Drive

Shoplifting: Loss prevention called police about a theft at the Manchester Highlands Walmart. Police said the suspect stole a television vaued at $628 from the store.
