Manchester and Town and Country's shops have plenty of variety for all your holiday shopping. Here's a list of some of the most unique items Patch found.

 

During this holiday shopping season, don't drive too far to get the perfect gift for that special someone. Manchester and Town and Country offer a wide variety of shops, both chains and locally-owned, that can meet the needs of every age, lifestyle and every pocket. Here is a look at ten random gift ideas from our own two cities.

1) Banana Bonanza:

We know that children love constructing their own devices, but how about children growing their own food? With Banana Bonanza, children ages 4 and up can grow their own Banana plant which will grow over a foot in the first month. The kit comes with the portable greenhouse, a seed pack—enough for three crops of plants—and the plants' mixture. Hobby Lobby located in Manchester sells this nature-friendly toy for $9.99. This item is also available in other plants,  such as strawberry, watermelon, peanuts and sunflowers.

2) La Gloria Cubana Cigar Kit:

A perfect gift for the cigar aficionado, this holiday combo contains 6 Wavell Extra cigars from the Dominican brand La Gloria Cubana and comes with a fancy lighter. The Discount Smoke Shop carries this item for $38.69, but also sells other cigar holiday gifts ready to wrap.

3) Speed Chute Resistance Sprint Trainer:

Know someone who is always looking for ways to stay in shape? With the Speed Chute they will defy the power of the wind as they run with this small parachute attached to them. The Speed Chute, from company SKLZ, has been designed to improve speed, agility and quickness. The quick-release function will allow the runner to release the chute mid stride for that "shot-out-of-a-cannon sensation." 4) Ozzie Smith Autographed Baseball:

Everybody loves the Cardinals and some definitively more than others. This collector's edition baseball, autographed by Ozzie Smith, will give that one fervent Cardinal fan something to brag about. At the 1,000,000 Baseball Cards shop in the Winchester Mall, the Ozzie Smith sells for $159, but there are other cheaper items such as a vintage 1968 World Series magazine, a  2006 World Series 1qt Budweiser bottle, and of course, hundreds of baseball cards.

5) Earth-Friendly Tool Set:

Nowadays it can be difficult to figure out what to give a small child. Will it contain lead? Will it be too loud? Will they enjoy it? 9) Wake Up Light:

For those who dread the sound of an alarm clock, the Wake Up Light by Philips will change this early-morning routine for ever. 10) Live Scribe:

Sometimes it is just impossible to write down everything someone tell us. A perfect gift for a student, or anyone who works taking notes, the Live Scribe pen will record everything you write and can also function as a voice recorder. The Live Scribe pen can also translate and find the definition of words after you write them down. Price ranges from $79.99 for a 2gb pen, to $179 for an 8gb one.
