Should Town and Country Build a Dog Park?

That's the question Town and Country city leaders are asking residents. The community's answers will determine whether or not it happens.

In July, the City of Town and Country created a dog park task force. The committee's focus is to determine if residents actually want a dog park built in the city. It would be a fenced in area where dogs could run off their leashes and owners would likely pay a fee to be a member.

If approved by the board of aldermen, the city would apply for a grant to fund the dog park.

However, before any of that is done, it's up to the residents to decide if they even want the park, so questionnaires will be mailed sometime in the future seeking their input.

Town and Country Alderman Lynn Wright, who serves as chairman of the dog task force, as well as the city's Parks and Trails Commission, tells Patch it is ultimately up to the residents to determine if the park will be built.

The proposed site for the dog park is Town and Country's Preservation Park because it offers the land needed for such a park.

As previously reported by Patch, city leaders are considering building a park similar to the one in Creve Coeur, near Interstate 270 and Ladue Road (view photos of Creve Coeur's park in this article). The City of Creve Coeur's dog park requires a membership fee and a code for members to access the park.

(Check out Creve Coeur Dog Park info/rates here.)

The task force will also look into the possibility that St. Louis County may build dog park in Queeny Park.

Already have a Dog Museum and all of Queeny Park. Ridiculous.
Spend the money on deer sterilization instead. Oh wait... no more are left!

definately want a dog park. paying a fee is worth it for the room to run and socialize the dogs. how much do the fees defray the cost of the park?
