The Town and Country Board of Aldermen approved the architectural review for the new Raintree Learning Community moving into Town and Country.
As previously reported by Patch, the new school is set to move in off Mason Road. The new building would be built on what is now vacant lots that were approved to be the Amonte Subdivision.
Monday night's approval of the architectural review comes after the city's architectural review board continues the matter in December over concerns about the white steel siding the school initially planned to use.
"We took those concerns into consideration and changed the design," explained the school's owner Ilya Eydelman.
Alderman Phil Behnen, who sits on the architectural review board, said revised plans presented by the school this week alleviated those concerns and the architectural review board approved the school's construction design which includes cedar, brick and a grey roof (which was initially white).
"The board thought the changes were a big improvement. We really liked it," Behnen told aldermen Monday night.
Aldermen also voted to approve the architectural design of the school Monday night.
Aldermen Lynn Wright and Chuck Lenz thanked the school for making the changes after aldermen voiced concerns over the original design last month.
"I appreciate and commend you for all the changes you made. The neighbors are going to be very, very happy," Lenz said.
