Kraintz also said he's hearing women in the community are happy the retailer has moved into the neighborhood.

"Obviously the Nordstom Rack is a pretty prominent name. it has a lot of cache , if you will, particularly for those who are into that kind of apparel which seems to be designer and high end."

Kendall Ault, spokesperson for Nordstrom Rack tells Town and Country - Manchester Patch this is the second Nordstrom Rack in the St. Louis area, with the first one opening in Brentwood Square in 2010.

"Nordstrom Rack is the off-price division of Nordstrom," Ault explained.

A news release states that the store offers "on-trend clearance merchandise from Nordstrom stores as well as items purchased specially for Nordstrom Rack."

The store also offers savings of 30 to 70 percent off of most of its designer merchandise. (Check back to Town and Country - Manchester Patch later this week for a sneak peek inside the store and a look at some of the store's merchandise.)

Ault said in addition to the now two Nordstrom Rack stores, St. Louis is also home to two Nordstrom stores. The West County Center location opened in 2002 and the St. Louis Galleria location opened in Sept., 2011.

"St. Louis has been such a great home to us since we first opened in 2002 in West County Center with our full-line store," Ault said. She said the success of the previous St. Louis stores was the reason behind this newest Manchester opening.

"We like to think that Nordstom Rack is the ultimate treasure hunt destination," Ault explained. "It's stuff that's 'on-trend,' so customers are going to find stuff they can buy now and wear now."

The store also offers mobile check-out devices.
