Men Sentenced For Credit Card Fraud From Town and Country Arrest

Two Massachusetts men arrested at Town and Country's Wellbridge Athletic Club for credit card fraud were sentenced in federal court Wednesday, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Jonathan Vendituoli, 55, of Swansea, Mass. and Kevin Cooney, 54, of Belmont, Mass. both pled guilty in April to credit card fraud and conspiracy to commit credit card fraud, stated the U.S. Attorneys Office in a news release.

Police said the men are suspected of breaking into lockers at Wellbridge Athletic Club and Spa in Clayton, among other locations, and taking credit cards to purchase cameras, computer gear and other electronics, court documents

Vendituoli and Cooney were arrested after a Clayton detective working out at Wellbridge in Town and Country spotted the two suspects in the Town and Country facility, police previously told Patch

Wednesday,Vendituoli and Cooney were sentenced to 84 months and 60 months of imprisonment respectively, for credit card fraud, according to the news release. Vendituoli was also ordered to pay more than $88,000 in restitution. Cooney was ordered to pay almost $50,000 in restitution, the release added.

The U.S. Attorney's Office stated that court documents indicate that Vendituoli and Cooney traveled to St. Louis to break into the lockers, then used the stolen cards to purchase the items, often from Best Buy stores around the St. Louis area.

The Town and Country Police Department worked in conjuction withe the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the Clayton Police Department and the the U. S. Secret Service on this investigation.

The sentence was much to severe. With a sentence that is for 5-7 years there should be no restitution. Appeal the case.
