A 3-Way Race For Two Seats on Parkway Board of Education

Last-minute filing by means it's a race on April 3.

 

The Board of Education race in Parkway School District got a third candidate Tuesday, the last day to file, providing a challenger to the two incumbents on the seven-member board.

Kim Appelbaum joined the race against incumbents Beth Feldman and Helen Casteel.

The Parkway board of education decides how to spend some $200 million a year in tax dollars on Chesterfield-based public schools, grades K - 12.

District officials said the challenger is not related to Tom Appelbaum, a current Parkway Board of Education director.

Kim Appelbaum is a Ballwin resident and Maritz IT Contract Manager, with two children inParkway West Middle and High schools.

Incumbent Feldman, is currently board vice president. She was first elected in 2009, after a one-year appointment to complete someone else's term. She is a Chesterfield resident.

Elected terms are three years.

Incumbent Casteel was first elected in 2006. She lives in the 63146 zip code of St. Louis County.
