I-270 Wrong-Way Driver Caught on Town and Country Dash Cam
A Town and Country Police officer reportedly captures a wrong-way driver heading straight for him on his dash cam.
The Town and Country Police Department said the photo included in this article shows a wrong-way driver on Interstate-270 earlier this month.
Police Captain Gary Hoelzer stated in an email that the incident was caught on a police cruiser dash-cam video just after 2 a.m., Oct. 1.
Officer Ronnie Nicoletti responded to a call for a wrong-way driver heading southbound in the northbound lanes of I-270 between Page Avenue and Dorsett Road with several near misses, Hoelzer explained.
While driving northbound, Nicoletti began a zigzag pattern to keep other motorists behind his patrol car, Hoezler stated. Nicoletti then saw the pick-up truck in the fast lane, heading toward him at at 60 mile an hour, so Nicoletti reportedly moved into the path of the pick up truck, which came to a stop in front of his patrol car.
Hoelzer said the officer arrested the driver for driving while intoxicated.
The 21-year old male driver lives in the 2400 block of Charann Street in St. Charles. He was released on bond with a court appearance in Town and Country Municipal Court and does not have any prior alcohol-related arrests, Hoelzer stated.
