Starbucks Expanding: Do We Need More of The Coffee Shops?
The coffee company reportedly plans to add at least 1,500 cafes in the U.S. over the next five years.
The Associated Press is reporting Wednesday that the world’s largest coffee company plans to add at least 1,500 cafes in the U.S. over the next five years.
The report indicates that Starbucks would have more than 20,000 cafes by 2014, up from its current count of about 18,000.
The AP is also reporting the Seattle-based company also plans to move from its current Tazo tea and begin serving Teavana, which it announced it would acquire last month.
There are currently two Starbucks locations in Town and Country and Manchester. One is located on Clayton Road and the other on Manchester Road.

Coffee shops are definitely all the rage. I think if they think business warrants it, why not? Personally, I love their coffee but I cannot justify spending $4 a cup except maybe once a month. Sometimes I look at our community and wonder "Are we really in a recession?" (with no disrespect meant to those who are really feeling that impact)

There is a Starbucks in the Chesterfield Valley and Wildwood. Seems like it was just a few years ago that Starbucks closed some of their stores.

@Charyl, you are correct. Chesterfield Mall does not currently have a Starbucks, it was closed several years ago when they were contracting. I still find it hard to believe A MALL that does not have a Starbucks!
@Bonnie, its not a daily thing for me, but a definite 'treat' when I'm out shopping with friends/family - especially when they have the seasonal specials! (like now!!!)
