Residents should be on alert after a Manchester resident reported a suspicious solicitation phone call.

According to police, the resident who lives in the 700 block of Le Manns Drive received a call on Oct. 3 from someone trying to sell him an alarm system. The resident said the caller asked him a lot of questions trying to get personal information.

Investigators believe this was a scam. Identity thieves often search for personal information in calls like this, but then can use the personal information to commit identity theft.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Manchester Police Department at 636-527-9200.

Anonymous tips can be made to the St. Louis Regional CrimeStoppers at 866-317-TIPS (8477).
